LIRR NOTIFICATION SWITCH REPLACEMENT HEMPSTEAD BRANCH

As an update and a friendly reminder, the LIRR will be conducting infrastructure modernization projects on multiple branches that will alter train schedules, including the Hempstead Branch. The work will also be noticeable to residents in the immediate vicinity of these work zones. We began this work last weekend on Saturday August 15^th and it is continuing through this weekend until Sunday August 23^rd.

 

QUEENS VILLAGE SWITCH REPLACEMENT – HEMPSTEAD BRANCH

• The LIRR will be replacing a switch in Queens Interlocking from Saturday August 15^th until Sunday August 23^rd. The work will occur on both weekends and throughout the week.
• This work will result in the suspension of train service between Hempstead and Jamaica in both directions on the weekends of August 15^th and August 22^nd.
• Customers wishing to travel between these locations will be accommodated on buses or should look to use alternate stations, such as Lynbrook, Mineola, Merillon Avenue, New Hyde Park or Valley Stream.
• During the week of Monday August 17^th through Friday August 21^st, Hempstead trains will operate on a modified schedule.
