Help Garden City Residents Rally Against Increasing Airplane Noise
Airplane noise over our community has significantly increased in recent years, disrupting daily life and impacting the quality of our neighborhoods. In response, the Environmental Advisory Board’s (EAB) Airplane Noise Sub-Committee is taking action—and they are calling on all residents to join the effort.
The Sub-Committee is encouraging Garden City neighbors to sign a petition demanding relief from the growing noise problem. Every signature will be sent to local elected officials to urge prompt action. Residents can sign the petition here: https://chng.it/RnfZ66kmby.
During the EAB’s September 17th meeting, experts discussed how recent shifts in flight patterns have increased noise levels over Garden City and outlined the potential risks to the community. Residents can watch the full meeting update here: https://youtu.be/M2WEOpyfYXk.
The EAB and community leaders are asking residents to take multiple steps to amplify the message:
-
File complaints directly with the Port Authority of NY/NJ and the FAA. Links and instructions are available on the Garden City Village website and app under “Notifications.”
-
Call elected officials and demand urgent action on airplane noise.
-
Spread the word by encouraging friends, family, and neighbors to sign the petition and submit complaints.
“This issue affects all of us,” said a representative of the EAB Sub-Committee. “The more signatures, complaints, and calls we generate, the stronger our voice will be in demanding relief and protecting our community’s quality of life.”
Residents are urged to act today to help ensure Garden City remains a peaceful and enjoyable place to live.
